Option 1: Hotel transfer (recommended)
Free airport transfer with Azura Bay direct booking
If you book Azura Bay Hotel directly (via WhatsApp or our website — not through Booking.com or other OTAs), airport transfer from Podgorica is included at no extra charge.
How it works: after booking, send your flight number and arrival time via WhatsApp. Our driver will meet you at the arrivals gate with a name sign. No meter running, no negotiating, no surprises.
This is the most convenient option and saves you €45–70 vs a taxi. For a family of four with luggage, it's the obvious choice.
Option 2: Pre-booked private taxi
Private transfer company (pre-booked online)
Several Montenegro transfer companies operate between Podgorica Airport and the coast. Booking in advance (24+ hours) gives you a fixed price. Search for "Montenegro Airport Transfer" — companies like Montenegro Airport Shuttle and similar operators have English booking.
Prices to the Bar/Dobra Voda area are typically €45–55 for a standard car (up to 4 passengers).
Option 3: Airport taxi rank
Taxi from arrivals (unbooked)
Taxis wait at Podgorica Airport outside the arrivals hall. Rates are metered but drivers may quote a fixed price. To the Dobra Voda / Bar area, expect €55–70 for an unbooked taxi. Negotiate the price before getting in.
This is the easiest option if you arrive and haven't arranged anything, but it's the most expensive option after hotel transfer.
Option 4: Rental car
Rental car from the airport
Budget, Europcar and local companies have desks at Podgorica Airport. In 2026, rates for a small car start at around €30–40/day in shoulder season, rising to €55–80 in July–August.
The drive to Dobra Voda is straightforward: E762 south toward Bar, then the coastal road. Google Maps works fine.
Best if: you plan to explore Montenegro independently — day trips to Kotor (45 min), Budva (30 min from Dobra Voda), or the inland regions. Parking at Azura Bay Hotel is free.
Not worth it if: you're staying at the hotel the whole time. You'll pay €200–400 for a week's rental and barely use it.
Option 5: Public bus (via Bar)
Bus to Bar, then local transport
There is no direct bus from the airport. You need to get from the airport to Podgorica bus station (5 km, taxi ~€7–10), then take a bus to Bar (~€4, journey ~1 hour), then a taxi or local bus from Bar to Dobra Voda (12 km, ~€8–12).
Total cost: roughly €19–25. Total time: 2–3 hours minimum, depending on bus schedules.
This is only worth considering if you're travelling very light and on a strict budget. For families with luggage, the time and complexity make it impractical.
From Tivat Airport (TIV)
Tivat Airport is the other main entry point for the Montenegro coast. It is 75 km from Dobra Voda — slightly further than Podgorica, but the drive is along the scenic coastal road.
- Hotel transfer from Tivat: also free with Azura Bay direct booking
- Pre-booked taxi: €60–75
- Journey time: 75–85 minutes
Note: if you have a choice of airports, Podgorica is marginally closer to Dobra Voda. Tivat is closer to Budva and Kotor.
The practical answer for most guests: Book Azura Bay Hotel direct, get the free transfer, and spend the €50 on a nice dinner at our Turkish restaurant instead.
The drive itself
The route from Podgorica to Dobra Voda goes through some of Montenegro's best scenery: the Skadar Lake region (largest lake in the Balkans), the switchbacks down to the coast, and the coastal road south of Bar. If you're renting a car or taking a taxi in daylight, look out the window — it's worth it.
The road is good quality (largely dual carriageway) but some sections near Bar have bends. Driving at night is fine but takes slightly longer.
